Group Finance Director
Location Hong Kong preferred; Singapore considered
Reporting to Co-Founder & Managing Director
Team Lean finance function of one to two Finance Managers
This is not a conventional Financial Controller role. We are looking for a highly commercial, hands-on finance leader who can take full ownership of the group finance function, become a trusted right-hand partner to the founders and grow into the Group CFO mandate as the business scales.
About the group
TOKEN2049 and SuperAI operate leading global events and platforms across crypto and artificial intelligence. The group has events and operations spanning Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe, the UAE and the United States, with continued international expansion ahead.
The group’s principal entities are based in Hong Kong, with events and operations across multiple currencies and jurisdictions. The Group Finance Director will combine rigorous Hong Kong financial and statutory oversight with commercial judgment, negotiation and international execution.
The mandate
The Group Finance Director will own the financial function across TOKEN2049 and SuperAI while acting as a close strategic and commercial partner to the founders. The role requires someone who can move comfortably between detailed financial work, major business decisions and complex external negotiations. For the right person, the role is designed to develop into Group CFO as both the individual and the business grow.
Key responsibilities
Own group-wide financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and management reporting.
Deliver accurate, decision-ready reporting across the group, individual businesses, events, entities and jurisdictions.
Manage multi-currency operations and consolidate financial performance across Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe, the UAE and the United States.
Own financial and statutory compliance for the group’s Hong Kong entities, including profits tax reporting, audited financial statements, required filings and coordination with auditors, tax advisers and company secretarial providers.
Oversee accounting, treasury, banking, controls, corporate structuring and compliance across the group’s wider international operations.
Serve as a direct commercial partner to the founders on major decisions, investments, expansion opportunities and resource allocation.
Lead or materially support major contract negotiations, partnership reviews and complex commercial agreements.
Evaluate potential M&A opportunities, including strategic fit, valuation, financial modelling, due diligence, deal structuring and transaction execution.
Build scalable financial systems and controls that improve visibility and accuracy without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Lead and develop a lean, high-performing finance team of one to two Finance Managers.
Anticipate financial, commercial and contractual risks, challenge assumptions and bring clear recommendations to the founders.
Candidate profile
Strong finance leadership experience, ideally as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Finance Director or VP Finance in an international business.
Strong command of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, treasury, tax, controls and multi-entity consolidation.
Strong practical knowledge of Hong Kong financial and statutory requirements, including profits tax reporting, annual audits, audited financial statements and recurring corporate filings.
Demonstrated experience operating across multiple currencies and jurisdictions; familiarity with several of our other core markets is highly valuable.
Strong commercial instincts and credible experience in high-value negotiations, contract review and deal structuring.
M&A experience across evaluation, financial modelling, due diligence and execution is strongly preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail, with a track record of identifying issues before they become problems.
Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA or an equivalent is preferred.
Genuine interest in technology; exposure to crypto, AI, media, events or another fast-moving international sector is advantageous.
How this person operates
Extremely direct, transparent and comfortable challenging founders when something does not make sense.
Highly ambitious, driven and motivated by the opportunity to build something significant.
Thrives in a high-velocity environment and can make sound decisions with imperfect information.
Comfortable with the flexibility and intensity required by a global business, particularly around major events, transactions and deadlines.
Moves quickly without sacrificing accuracy, control or judgment.
Low ego, calm under pressure and personally accountable for outcomes.
Hands-on by default and willing to go deep into numbers, contracts and operational detail.
Thinks like a business owner rather than a functional gatekeeper.
Why join us
This is a rare opportunity to step into a genuinely broad finance leadership mandate within two category-leading, internationally expanding businesses at the intersection of crypto, AI and global technology. The successful candidate will work directly with the founders, shape major strategic and commercial decisions, and have a clear opportunity to grow into Group CFO as the group enters its next phase of growth. The scope will expand with capability and results, rather than being constrained by a conventional finance job description.
