Sankt Ignatios Theological Academy is now advertising a position as Deputy Dean – Education, with a portfolio relating to Religion, Art and Democracy (Folkbildning)

Sankt Ignatios Theological Academy consists of four parts: Sankt Ignatios Community College, Sankt Ignatios College, Sankt Ignatios Academy, and Sankt Ignatios Office. The community college educates refugees and adults in Swedish, English and subjects connected with University eligibility. The College educates priests, religious educators and takes care of the beginnings of the Bachelor program. The Academy takes care of the latter part of the Bachelor program, Master and Research level. The office supervises all institutions, care for the administration and strategic development.

Sankt Ignatios is developing in two exiting areas. We are presently being integrated with Stockholm School of Theology (THS) and also making Sankt Ignatios international. Therefore we would like to expand the leadership of the organization by employing a second deputy dean. The Deputy will carry the responsibility together with the Dean for enhancing the quality of Sankt Ignatios as an institution, with particular emphasis on developing international relations.

Work duties

  • Together with the Deans Collegium

oversee Education on all levels, with special attention to College and Academy

  • Chair the Educational Collegium with the

Academic Dean of Academy and the Academic Dean of College.

  • Develop the Center for International

Relations and Unity

  • Develop curriculum and teach within

"Eastern Christian Studies” and "Religion, Art and Democracy”.

  • Supervise Doctoral Students
  • Research
  • Teaching

Qualifications

The deputy should have a portfolio related to folkbildning and Eastern Christian Studies. The title in English of the portfolio would be Religion, Art and Democracy. The portfolio will have a general content oriented toward folkbildning, and the development of its idea, which is unfolded in the intersection between Religion, Art and Democracy.

The applicant is to have demonstrated research and teaching expertise of significance for the subject.

The academic qualifications required is Senior Lecturer/Docent/Professor.

Furthermore, the applicant is to demonstrate the ability to lead and develop centers, institutions or networks in the field as well as demonstrate experience of working internationally for the orthodox churches with a special focus of inter-orthodox relations. Since our international center is located in Belgrade the applicant has to fluent in Serbian and English and preferably knowledgable in a third language, e.g. German, French or Italian, etc.
