Professionals in TPI are involved in live engagements from the outset, contributing to analysis, execution and client deliverables in coordination with colleagues across the firm. The platform is designed to provide meaningful responsibility, direct exposure to senior leadership and long-term growth in a high-performance environment. The Director, Investment Banking (IB) role at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to lead transaction execution, build firm integrated advisory capabilities and shape the continued growth of the Investment Banking platform within TPI. As the senior leader of the India-based Investment Banking team, this Director will oversee the execution of complex M&A transactions, capital raises, restructurings, liability management transactions, special situations and strategic advisory engagements while leveraging partnerships across practice lines to deliver comprehensive client solutions. This individual will partner closely with U.S.-based bankers and firm leadership to establish the India IB roadmap and firmwide commercial discipline and build a differentiated market position. Reporting to the Head of TPI, this Director will be responsible for transaction oversight, team leadership, talent development, process excellence and cross-functional collaboration. In addition to managing active engagements, this individual will play a critical role in recruiting, developing, mentoring and scaling the India Investment Banking team.

Responsibilities Lead, develop and manage the India-based IB team, including Associates and Vice Presidents, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration and continuous development

Partner with senior team members across all practice lines to lead execution across multiple concurrent engagements including M&A, capital raise, restructuring, liability management and strategic advisory, while delivering integrated client solutions and supporting business development initiatives

Oversee financial analyses, valuation work, transaction materials and client deliverables produced by TPI teams

Provide leadership and quality control across all phases of transaction execution including diligence, marketing, investor outreach, management presentations and closing activities

Advise clients and transaction teams on strategic alternatives, capital structure optimization, restructuring and special situations transactions

Oversee execution of distressed M&A, liability management, recapitalization and restructuring engagements

Advise teams on complex financial, valuation, accounting and transaction-related matters

Develop and implement best practices, training programs and quality standards across the IB team

Mentor and develop Associates and Vice Presidents while supporting recruiting and talent management initiatives

Lead integration of AI and automation capabilities into the India IB platform, partnering with the Innovation and AI Solutions group to enhance team productivity, and establish best practices for technology-enabled delivery

Assist with staffing, resource allocation and execution planning across active engagements

Support business development efforts through market research, industry analysis, pitch development and relationship-building activities

Support talent acquisition and firm development efforts

Contribute to a high-performing, inclusive and values-driven culture

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program required

Willing to relocate to or be primarily present in Gurgaon or Mumbai

11 plus years of experience at a top-tier investment bank serving U.S.-based clients and deal teams

Demonstrated experience managing transaction execution teams and complex client engagements

Expert-level financial modeling and valuation capabilities including DCF, LBO, merger modeling, trading and transaction comparables

Experience overseeing M&A processes, restructuring, recapitalization, liability management and special situations engagements

Strong leadership, coaching and talent development capabilities

Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills

Proven ability to thrive in lean, collaborative team environments

High attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindset

Track record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments
