Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all welding engineering activities for EPC projects.
- Establish, implement, and maintain the ISO 3834 Welding Management System.
- Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications, including ASME, AWS, ISO, API, DNV, and ABS.
- Coordinate with clients, classification societies, and third-party inspection agencies on welding-related matters.
- Review vendor welding documentation, procedures, and fabrication records.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the yard and production teams.
- Review welding practices and ensure compliance with project and quality requirements.
- Investigate and resolve welding-related NCRs, concessions, and technical queries.
- Support material selection, PWHT activities, NDT coordination, and weld repair strategies.
- Oversee welder training, qualification, performance monitoring, and welding consumable control.
- Ensure welding equipment and inspection instruments are properly calibrated and maintained.
- Participate in quality audits, surveillance activities, and inspections.
- Develop welding sequences for critical structural fabrication to minimize distortion and improve quality.
- Monitor welding and NDT performance targets and drive continuous improvement.
- Mentor Welding Engineers and QA/QC Inspectors on welding, NDT, and PWHT requirements.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Welding, Metallurgy, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- IWE (International Welding Engineer) certification is required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural and piping fabrication yards.
- Strong experience in EPC, offshore, marine, oil & gas, or heavy fabrication projects.
- Hands-on experience with carbon steel, low-alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex and super duplex stainless steel, Inconel, copper nickel, and weld overlay materials.
- Strong knowledge of heavy structural fabrication involving tubular and non-tubular structures.
- In-depth understanding of welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW, and FCAW.
- Good knowledge of NDT methods and PWHT requirements.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
