Health Systems Specialist

About the Position: This position is located at 5th Medical Group, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.

Major duties

• Serve as a Credentials Specialists for the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) within the Professional Affairs Branch.
• Provide consultation services, ongoing review, and interpretation of regulatory requirements.
• Prepare reports and recommend actions to correct deficiencies and/or improve operations.
• Coordinate interactions with local, state and Federal agencies responsible for credentials and the privileging of independent healthcare providers, and all licensed, registered, and/or certified healthcare employees.
• Manage the credentials and privileging program for privileged health care providers.
• Conduct internal reviews and audits of the Provider Credential Files (PCF) and Provider Activity Files (PAF) to assure activities of the office comply with standards, policies, and guidance.

Minimum Qualifications for Health Systems Specialist (GS-11): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing healthcare data to identify trends, using automated databases to retrieve patient information, and reviewing policies and procedures for compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
