Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Qualification:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in civil engineering

Master's degree in structural engineering preferred

Experience:

Minimum 10 years' experience in structural design and construction for large buildings and civil/infrastructure projects, including at least 6 years at supervisory level

Strong engineering and structural design expertise

Professional engineer registration with a reputable international professional engineering institution is an advantage

Previous experience in water-retaining structures and dewatering preferred

Good knowledge of construction activities and project management

Strong understanding of international and local standards including BS, EN, ASTM and QCS related to civil/structural engineering

Experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities

Strong communication and presentation skills

Good command of English, both written and spoken

Computer literate with mainstream MS Office products and structural design software

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Provide technical support to projects, delivering civil/structural design and engineering services for all assigned engineering projects and ad hoc support, ensuring technical quality and integrity while meeting safety, time and cost objectives

Execute civil/structural engineering activities across all stages of assigned projects

Check and review all project drawings and documents (civil, structural, specifications, calculations and proposed materials) submitted by others, ensuring compliance with project scope, specifications and applicable standards

Participate in and provide assistance for pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities

Review and evaluate contract changes/variations in line with approved guidelines and applicable codes, standards and practices; make recommendations for approval or rejection of technical deviations

Review and approve method statements developed by contractors for scope compliance, and liaise with them to resolve technical issues

Lead the client technical team and assist the client senior project engineer on all technical matters related to assigned projects

Coordinate with appointed Qatar-registered consultants responsible for construction management and supervision, as required

Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance

Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers to ensure timely delivery of technical services to meet project requirements

Coordinate engineering designs and develop/review multidisciplinary work scopes for projects and other engineering activities, ensuring work scopes are comprehensive and clear

Support the development of personal technical competency and skills, and mentor coworkers

Participate in structured training for associate engineers

Work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment

Resolve technical challenges related to civil/structural engineering work and adjacent disciplines
