Job purpose
The Specialist Process Engineer is responsible for providing advanced process engineering expertise for the design, modification, integration, and commissioning of offshore water injection facilities. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient process design and operation while supporting brownfield modifications and maintaining compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
Process engineering & design
Lead process engineering activities for offshore water injection systems and associated facilities.
Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process design basis, and engineering calculations.
Perform hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, process simulations, and system performance evaluations.
Review and optimize water injection system design for efficiency, reliability, and operability.
Support process optimization and debottlenecking studies.
Safety & risk management
Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and other process safety studies.
Ensure compliance with company process safety management requirements.
Conduct process risk assessments and provide mitigation measures.
Support management of change (MOC) activities for brownfield modifications.
Engineering coordination
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and operations.
Provide technical support during detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Review vendor documents and technical proposals.
Resolve process engineering issues arising during project execution.
Brownfield & offshore support
Perform feasibility studies and brownfield engineering assessments.
Support tie-in engineering and shutdown planning activities.
Evaluate existing offshore facilities for integration of new water injection systems.
Conduct offshore site surveys and technical reviews when required.
Commissioning & operations support
Develop process commissioning procedures.
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and performance testing activities.
Troubleshoot process upsets and operational challenges.
Assist operations teams in achieving production and injection targets.
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or process engineering.
Master's degree is an added advantage.
Chartered engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration preferred.
Experience
15–18 years of process engineering experience in oil & gas projects.
Minimum 5 years in offshore brownfield projects.
Strong experience in offshore water injection facilities and produced water systems.
Proven involvement in FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, commissioning, and start-up phases.
ADNOC offshore or Middle East project experience highly preferred.
