Our Platform Engineering team builds and evolves the internal platforms that power software development across InterSystems. We develop build systems, developer tools, cloud-native infrastructure, automation, and AI-enabled engineering capabilities that help teams deliver software faster, more securely, and more reliably.

As a Principal Platform Engineer, you will serve as a hands-on technical leader, solving complex engineering challenges, shaping technical direction, and leading initiatives that improve developer productivity, platform reliability, and software delivery across the company.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across Platform Engineering.

Design and enhance internal platforms, developer tools, build systems, CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and software factory capabilities.

Identify opportunities to simplify and automate how software is built, tested, and delivered.

Help ensure our platforms are scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable.

Evaluate new technologies and introduce them where they can make a meaningful impact.

Collaborate with teams across the organization, mentor engineers, and help guide technical decisions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Eight or more years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline.

Experience leading complex technical initiatives involving multiple systems or teams.

Experience in areas such as cloud infrastructure, CI/CD platforms, build systems, developer tooling, automation, Infrastructure as Code, containers, and observability.

Strong software engineering and automation skills using languages such as Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, Bash, or similar technologies.

Strong understanding of system architecture, reliability, security, scalability, and maintainability.

Experience using AI tools to improve software development and engineering workflows.

Ability to identify where AI can meaningfully enhance developer productivity and software delivery while understanding its limitations and risks.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building internal developer platforms that support software development and delivery.

Experience with DevSecOps practices, including application security, software supply chain security, and secure development pipelines.

Experience with AI coding assistants or agentic development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Tabnine, or similar technologies.

Experience integrating AI capabilities into developer platforms, engineering tools, or automated workflows.

Other compensation may include a discretionary annual variable target incentive.

The estimated base compensation range for this role is: $110,000 — $164,000 USD
