EK Network ULD Officer
Job purpose
Join our Airport Services team, where you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless airport operations and delivering world-class service to our customers. The team is responsible for a wide range of critical functions, both “above and below the wing,” to keep our busy airport running efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
As an EK Network ULD Officer, you will work on a shift basis and control ULD and accessory movements across all Emirates online and offline stations to achieve maximum payload uplift in a timely manner.
In this role, you will:
- Act independently on shift, ensuring adequate station stocks of ULDs and accessories are maintained through forecasting, and make decisions to correct imbalances immediately. This includes managing the transfer of adequate stocks to start-up stations. Pay special attention to the hub, including peak-hour baggage requirements.
- Coordinate with SkyCargo to meet daily requirements for specialized ULDs across the network, leasing units where necessary and planning utilization to minimize idle time and demurrage due to late returns to leasing companies.
- Manage the daily service-level agreement with DNATA Technical Services, ensuring ULD deliveries from assembly and repair match network requirements.
- Provide the Manager ULD Logistics (EK) with monthly trends on repair expenses and recommend corrective action.
- Maintain close relationships with the IATA ULD group to arrange regular interline transfers of ULDs to meet EK network needs, ensuring other carriers’ ULDs are returned on time to minimize demurrage charges. Track EK ULDs loaned to other carriers and cargo agents, initiating tracing action in case of missing units.
- Track network cargo and baggage trends and recommend changes to published minimum station stock levels.
- Recommend ULD configurations on flights carrying urgent stocks to meet outstation requirements, influencing SkyCargo to replace low-priority cargo where necessary.
- Decide when to remove non-serviceable units from operation. With Group Safety, analyze aircraft delays due to damaged ULDs, investigate with the respective stations to identify causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Recover ULD repair costs from station handling agents when damage is due to poor handling.
- Ensure all pallets and nets provided for freighter operations comply with FAA airworthiness standards, avoiding possible penalties at freight gateways.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed a minimum of 12 years of schooling or equivalent.
- Have at least 5 years of experience working in airport operations.
- Have good working knowledge of the airline cargo function.
Additional consideration will be given to candidates who:
- Have demonstrable experience in demand forecasting, data trend analysis, and translating operational data to support network planning, inventory management, and operational decision-making.
- Have knowledge of ULD technical specifications and features, as well as in-depth knowledge of load processing and handling, cargo and mail handling, IATA dangerous goods handling, and weight and balance procedures.
- Are proficient with PCs and competent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, web-based applications, and other EK software packages.
- Have excellent working knowledge of Nomad or a similar ULD management system.
- Have experience in aircraft safety and security procedures and are well versed in the approved ULD configurations for all aircraft types in the Emirates fleet.
