Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on heavy vehicles such as trucks, forklift. This includes engine diagnostics, brake systems, transmission, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Identify faults and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime.
- Parts Replacement: Replace or repair worn or defective parts/components of heavy vehicles, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Inspection and Testing: Conduct thorough inspections and testing of vehicles after repairs to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance. Perform preventive maintenance checks to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, hours worked, and service history. Generate reports as required by supervisors or regulatory authorities.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to workplace safety regulations and company policies. Use personal protective equipment(PPE) and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other mechanics and support staff to achieve departmental goals. Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues on repair progress and vehicle status.
Qualifications and Requirement
- Experience: Experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic and experience in servicing and repairing heavy vehicles.
- Skills: Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of heavy vehicles. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Certifications: Relevant technical certifications or qualifications in heavy vehicle mechanics (e.g., ITE Skills Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, WSQ Certificates) preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy components and parts. Comfortable working in various positions(standing, kneeling, bending) and environments.
- Education: Technical training or apprenticeship in heavy vehicle mechanics is advantageous.
